Ajay K Makanahalli Annaiah
Assistant Professor
Ajay Kumara is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, starting in Fall 2024. He previously served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Lenoir-Rhyne University and held postdoctoral positions at Pennsylvania State University, the University of Arizona, and Florida International University.
Dr. Kumara's research focuses on cybersecurity areas such as malware analysis, binary code analysis, reverse engineering, fuzzing, virtual machine introspection, memory forensics, virtualization, and cloud computing. By leveraging AI-enhanced static and dynamic analysis, he aims to detect unknown malware and identify vulnerabilities in binary code. He has contributed to projects funded by the DoD, ONR, and NSF and has published in high-impact journals and conferences. As a senior IEEE member, he also serves on technical program committees for cybersecurity conferences and as a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security and various Springer journals.
