Roger Laverty

Rory Laverty is an investigative reporter and the author of two books of nonfiction: Aluminum Alley: The American Pilots Who Flew Over the Himalayas and Helped Win World War II (Stackpole, 2023) and Delivery Man: The Enemy-Alien Nisei Translator Who Saved His Battalion in World War II (Skyhorse, coming May 13, 2025). Laverty's reporting on the military, law enforcement, and the justice system has appeared in publications such as the Washington Post, the Daily Beast, the Oakland Tribune, and Newsweek since 1998. A graduate of UNC Wilmington's MFA program in creative nonfiction, Laverty is a senior lecturer in the university's English Department, where he teaches writing and journalism.
