Yeounsoo Godwin Kim

Professor

Kim-Godwin, a tenured professor in the School of Nursing (SON), began working with the SON in 1997 as a part-time lecturer. Over the years, she has contributed to a broad range of programs, including pre-licensure, RN-BSN, RN-MSN, FNP, and DNP tracks. Most recently, she has been teaching courses within the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Nurse Educator online program. She obtained both a Master of Nursing (MN) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in nursing from the University of South Carolina.

Specialization in Teaching

Kim-Godwin has maintained her Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential and continually enhanced her online teaching competencies through professional development programs such as Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPRM) and the Online Teaching Excellence Certificate Course (OTECC). While teaching online RN-BSN and MSN courses, she has actively collaborated with students and colleagues on publications and presentations, contributing to the advancement of teaching scholarship. She has been consistently recognized by graduating classes for her impactful contributions to students' lives each semester.

Research Interests

Kim-Godwin's research focuses on spirituality, family and mental health, and substance use within community and cross-cultural settings. She has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles, employing diverse research methodologies, including online education, instrumentation studies, secondary data analysis, and mixed-methods approaches.
