Victoria J. Hansen

Dr. Hansen is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Cameron School of Business. With over 25 years of experience in public accounting, Dr. Hansen has held positions ranging from tax associate to tax manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and D’Arcangelo & Co. LLP, and has also operated her own CPA practice. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New York and North Carolina and continues to maintain a small CPA practice.

Dr. Hansen's research focuses on judgment and decision-making related to tax compliance and financial reporting. Her work has been published in reputable journals, including "Contemporary Accounting Research," "Journal of the American Taxation Association," and the "Review of Quantitative Finance & Accounting."

She teaches both undergraduate and graduate tax courses, sharing her extensive practical experience with her students.

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Dr. Hansen is an avid traveler and a dedicated New York Giants fan.

Community Engagement

Dr. Hansen organizes and leads the Cameron School of Business' Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. IRS certified student volunteers assist taxpayers with preparing and filing their federal and state income tax returns.
