Mike joined UNCW as part-time instructor in January 2025 after retiring from his CEO position with Rulmeca Corporation, a company he co-founded in 2003. He teaches Career Essentials in the Cameron School, sharing insights on selecting, securing, and maintaining a career. He shares his passion for professionalism in the workplace through lectures and class dynamics exercises, relying on experience he gained during his 54-year career in engineering, field construction, market research, public relations, product marketing, and executive management.
As a mentor with the Cameron Executive Network, Mike coaches his mentees in how to find and secure internships and prepare for careers in the "real world".
A board member with the Cape Fear Manufacturing Partnership, Mike helps lead the group to "address the challenges we face in improving and growing the manufacturing base in Southeastern North Carolina while aiming to attract job seekers and to help train, develop and align talent to the wide diversity of career paths available in our industries".
