Hayley H. Estrem

Hayley Estrem, PhD, RN, is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing. She studies child and family-centered care for pediatric feeding disorder (PFD) and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). These conditions have significant impact on children and their families, especially for children with developmental delay or disability. The goal of her research program is to develop a knowledge base about this complex developmental issue to improve assessment and treatment. She uses multimethod approaches and has experience with concept analyses, measure development, mixed-methods design, and family nursing. She has developed studies that are meaningful for the experiential expert. She has a history of working successfully with the Feeding Flock Team in tool development and those tools are used by clinicians and researchers around the world. She also collaborates with interdisciplinary researchers and clinicians in the feeding field at clinics, and with Feeding Matters, a parent-initiated advocacy non-profit organization.
