Bill DiNome
Student Media Coordinator
Bill has been advising UNCW Student Media since 1998, serving student-run, editorially independent media that include the news site, TheSeahawk.org; the creative arts magazine, Atlantis; Flicker Film Society, TealTV, and others. His broad range of media experience includes work as an award-winning copywriter for major book publishers and ad agencies; freelance writing and editing for businesses, newspapers, radio, and magazines; announcing and writing for public radio, and musical performance, composition, and recording. Bill’s classroom experience, from 1996 through 2017, included adjunct teaching at UNCW, Mt. Olive University, and Cape Fear Community College, focusing on writing, literature, first-year seminar, and journalism. At UNCW he also provides programming focused on free expression and the First Amendment. Bill’s work with college media is informed by a deep devotion to student free expression as high-impact learning, a vehicle for critical thinking and public discourse, and a font of creativity.
