Sydney E Bouchelle

With a deep commitment to advancing the visibility and reputation of UNCW, Sydney serves as the Media Relations Specialist in the Office of University Relations. Bringing a passion for storytelling and a strategic mindset, Sydney works to shape and share the university's narrative across multiple media platforms. In this role, Sydney is responsible for researching, conceptualizing, and crafting compelling press pitches, news stories, and releases that highlight the achievements of UNCW’s faculty, staff, and students. Whether crafting news items or responding to media inquiries, Sydney ensures that the university’s milestones are effectively communicated to local, regional, and national audiences. In addition to media relations, Sydney is an integral part of the crisis communication team, managing emerging media issues and disseminating critical information to both the campus community and the broader public during emergency situations. A very proud Seahawk, she graduated in May 2019 with a degree in Communication Studies from UNCW. Before joining UNCW as a staff member in 2024, Sydney was a journalist at WWAY TV, where she reported on critical community issues, including local government and education, while amplifying the voices of the people in the Cape Fear Region. As a reporter, her work was recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.
