Pre-Professional Programs

Vitals Pre-Health Living Learning Community

Students interested in pursuing a profession in chiropractic medicine, dentistry, medicine, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, podiatry and veterinary medicine are all invited to apply to the Vitals Community cohort. This learning community provides a space where you live and learn with peers that share similar goals of becoming health professionals. Accepted students are also guaranteed a housing assignment in Seahawk Crossing. This community proves to assist students in their academic achievement as seen with the 2015-2016 cohort who increased their term GPA from 3.4 to 3.6 in one year. This community is open to students with at least sophomore standing by the end of the Spring 2017 semester, including transfer students, early college students, and first-year spring admits.

Program Information

Students who participate in Vitals Community will:

  • Be required to complete at least one approved leadership, volunteer, internship or research opportunity
  • Attend regular meetings with vital students that include workshops and study sessions
  • Complete and present a critical reflection project at the culmination of the program

Admission Process

The application process takes place in the Fall semester. Priority enrollment is given to students with strong application essays and academic history. Students should be enrolled in or have completed at least two science pre-requisite courses by the time of application. Space is reserved for 12 students in Seahawk Crossing.
