Location:

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), sometimes referred to as UNC Wilmington or affectionately as The Dub, is a public university in Wilmington, North Carolina and is part of the 17-campus University of North Carolina System.

Everybody loves Wilmington, the "Port City"!

You may feel that you already know this place, as the Wilmington area has been the location for many films and television shows, notably Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill, Iron Man 3, Blue Velvet, Sleeping with the Enemy, and Weekend at Bernie's, to name a few. Thus, Wilmington earned the nickname "Hollywood of the East" and "Wilmywood."

Birthplace of Michael Jordan and David Brinkley, Wilmington is today a family beach town, a college town, a place to visit and to live. From early colonial prosperity to civil war chaos, from a boomtown WWII era fueled by "Liberty Ship" building, to becoming a growing tourist and retirement destination--- Wilmington now prides itself on a fantastic, engaged university, a new and exciting technology sector, extraordinary natural beauty, historic and architectural character and a thriving, cosmopolitan arts scene.

UNCW is situated between the Cape Fear riverfront historic downtown and beautiful ocean beaches--- Wrightsville, Kure, and Carolina. The Wilmington area offers plenty of unique attractions, entertainment and activities, wonderful dining options, and much more. We hope you will come early or stay a while after the conference to enjoy the local fun. We are always happy to recommend sites, activities, restaurants, and more!
