Saturday, May 02, 2015

"School Report Cards, Teacher Pay and Assessment: A Discussion of PK-12 Policy in NC" was the topic of a Watson College of Education Open Forum on March 25. Tracy Weeks of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) was featured speaker at the event, coordinated by associate professor Scott Imig.

Weeks is Chief Academic and Digital Learning Officer for the NC DPI, where she leads several divisions including Curriculum and Instruction, Career and Technical Education, Digital Teaching and Learning, Exceptional Children, NCVPS, and Home Base support and development. The position was created in March 2014, and Weeks said North Carolina is one of the first states in the nation to combine academics and digital learning in this way.

Weeks served as executive director of the North Carolina Virtual Public School, the nation's second largest virtual public school, before assuming her position at NC DPI.
