UNCW Monitoring Winter Weather Conditions

UNCW Alert

According to the National Weather Service, winter weather conditions may affect the Wilmington area Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, Feb. 19-20. Minimal impacts, such as icy patches on roads, walkways, bridges and overpasses, may affect the UNCW campus and community nearby.

UNCW will continue to monitor winter weather conditions as a precaution. The university does not anticipate cancellations or delays at this time.

Be Safe, Stay Informed

Monitor weather conditions and stay alert when driving around Wilmington during winter weather events. Avoid cell phone use; leave early to allow for additional travel time; reduce speed; increase following distance; and be patient. As conditions may vary across North Carolina, please remember to make responsible decisions for your safety. See road condition information from NCDOT: https://drivenc.gov/.

In the event of university-level closings or cancellations, UNCW Alert text messages and the Emergency Information Hotline (1.888.657.5751) will be activated.  Monitor your campus email inboxes; messages with a reference to the weather in the subject line merit careful review.  Updates also will be posted to the UNCW homepage, UNCW Alert page, UNCW Mobile and social media feeds (Facebook, Instagram and X). These sources contain the latest information available to university officials.
