UNCW Soars in 2025 U.S. News Rankings

Nursing, Business and Psychology Programs Lead the Way

UNCW has made significant strides in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report “Best College Rankings,” showcasing its commitment to academic excellence and student success. 

The university has improved its position for Top Public Schools to #107 (tied), up two places from #109 last year. Overall, UNCW is now ranked #196 (tied), climbing five spots from #201 last year. 

Among the UNC System schools featured on the national list, UNCW ranks in the top five.  

"UNCW continues to earn recognition at the national level for the high quality of our programs and services for students. Our faculty and staff focus on providing meaningful learning experiences, such as undergraduate research, internships and leadership opportunities, within a welcoming campus community,” said Chancellor Aswani K. Volety. “UNCW emphasizes advising, mentoring, career readiness, health and wellness services and other programs that support student success." 

UNCW’s nursing program has seen a remarkable rise, now ranked #96 (tied), up 58 spots from #154 last year for Best Undergraduate Nursing Program.  

Up 22 spots from last year, UNCW’s Cameron School of Business program is ranked #222 (tied) for Best Undergraduate Business Program. The psychology program has also seen significant improvement, now ranked #229 (tied), up 35 spots from #264 last year. 

UNCW improved six spots from last year for Best Value School and is ranked #204, reflecting its dedication to providing quality education at an affordable cost.  

The university continues to support student veterans, moving up to #140 (tied) from #141 last year in the Best for Vets category.  

These rankings highlight UNCW’s ongoing efforts to enhance its academic programs and support services, ensuring a high-quality education for all its students.
