UNCW Monitoring Weather Conditions

UNCW Alert

UNCW is monitoring the stormy conditions that are affecting our region today (Sept. 16) in collaboration with local, state and national partners.  While rainy, windy weather, flash flooding and high surf conditions will continue to affect our area today, forecasts predict the storm will weaken as it lifts away tonight into Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The university is following its normal operating schedule at this time, but some locations and activities could be affected by weather conditions. Please visit specific event websites for the latest information.

Students and employees should exercise caution when moving on or around campus during this weather event. Please remember the following safety guidelines:

  • Call 911 in case of an emergency.
  • Do not enter flood waters, campus ponds, etc. This is an extremely risky endeavor that could result in serious injury, illness or death.
  • Exercise caution when driving; do not try to drive through flooded areas.
  • Pay attention to detours and debris.
  • Do not enter the ocean during dangerous surf conditions.

As the storm evolves, the track could change, and forecasted conditions could shift. The university will convey any necessary updates via campus email, the UNCW homepage, UNCW Alert page, and in the event of an emergency, UNCW Alert text messages and calls. Please monitor your phones throughout the duration of the storm.
