Potential High Risk of Rip Currents

UNCW Alert

Due to remnants of Hurricane Helene, there is a potential for dangerous rip currents and high surf in our coastal areas through Friday. It’s important for the campus community and visitors who plan to attend UNCW Family Weekend to stay informed about the potential rip current dangers. Please exercise caution if you visit the beach and continue to monitor local weather and surf updates. Heed beach warning flags for your safety. Do not enter the surf under red flag conditions.

UNCW Family Weekend, Other Activities

Please note that many UNCW Family Weekend events slated for Sept. 27-29 are scheduled to proceed as planned. Event schedules may be adjusted based on the weather. Any changes will be updated on the Family Weekend website, communicated via email by sponsoring offices and shared during check-in at the Warwick Center on Friday and Saturday.

Weather conditions may impact other campus events and activities. Before heading out, please check the campus venue websites for the latest updates. Unless conditions warrant a change, the university does not plan to send out additional messages about Hurricane Helene.
