Break out the rolling carts because a new flock of Seahawks is about to land on campus. This week, hundreds of volunteers will unload cars packed with backpacks, bedding and bikes to help UNCW’s newest Seahawks make campus their home.

Move-In (Aug. 16-18) marks the start of UNCWelcome, a series of events and opportunities for new and returning students to “feel the teal” and catch the back-to-school vibe.

Other events include*:

  • Dub After Dark - Aug. 17
  • Convocation and Campus Picnic - Aug. 19
  • Rock the Rec - Aug. 19
  • Beach Blast - Aug. 20
  • First Day of Classes - Aug. 21
  • Involvement Carnival - Aug. 27
  • Family Weekend - Sept. 27-29

“We are ready to open our doors to a group of bright, talented and diverse individuals who will undoubtedly contribute to the vibrant Seahawk community we cherish,” said Christine Reed Davis, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. “Our campus has been buzzing with activity as faculty, staff and current students have come together to create an environment for the newest members of the nest to start their academic journey on a positive note.”

Making its debut is the official UNCW App (UNCW Mobile) equipped with features to help navigate Move-In and other welcome events. Download via the App Store or Google Play.

During Move-In Friday-Sunday (Aug. 16-18), heavy traffic on campus and the surrounding area is expected between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. New students and their families will arrive on Friday or Saturday and check in at either the Cultural Arts Building or Trask Coliseum, depending on their residence hall location. Returning students will begin arriving on Sunday.

Please be mindful of temporary road and lot closures, follow the directions of those directing traffic and posted signs and refrain from parking on grass or fields.

A parking permit is required to park on campus. Having a valid permit and following regulations helps alleviate congestion issues. Visit the UNCW Parking Portal for additional information.
