UNCW Women Leaders Honored by YWCA

Six Seahawk women are nominees for YWCA’s annual Women of Achievement Awards. The awards celebrate women leaders of the lower Cape Fear who exemplify YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
The UNCW faculty/staff nominees are:
- Sabrina Cherry, assistant professor of public health, was nominated in the category of education.
- Ann Freeman, assistant secretary to the UNCW Board of Trustees and divisional budget manager for the Chancellor's Division, was nominated in the category of public service.
- Michaela Howells, associate professor of anthropology, was nominated in the category of education.
- Mayra Robles, first-year admission coordinator, was nominated in the category of trailblazer.
- Tania Smith, CARE lead victim advocate, was nominated in the category of response and education.
- Katrin Wesner-Harts, director of the Abrons Student Health Center, was nominated in the category of health and wellness.
