Richard Ogle, interim dean of the UNCW College of Arts and Sciences, has accepted the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at California State University, Stanislaus, effective June 15.“I want to thank Dr. Ogle for his many years of service to UNCW. He has had a tremendous impact on the College of Arts and Sciences and the institute as a whole,” said James Winebrake, provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs. “We will miss him and wish him the very best as he takes on this new and important position at Stanislaus.”
Ogle’s impact on the UNCW community spans nearly two decades and includes roles as senior associate provost for Academic Affairs, associate dean for faculty policy and enrollment management for the College of Arts and Sciences, Psychology Department chair, and the department’s graduate coordinator and clinical training coordinator. As a clinical psychologist, he has expertise in the fields of addictive behaviors and post-traumatic stress. Ogle, a professor of psychology, has received the Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Award, the Distinguished Teaching Professorship, and the Graduate Mentor Award.
“Nineteen years ago, I arrived in Wilmington to start my first academic job – assistant professor of psychology. UNCW welcomed me with open arms and allowed me to grow,” he said. “Working with the UNCW, CAS and Psychology families over these years has been the joy of my career – professionally and personally. We have done great things together. I will take what I have learned from our time together to a role that is as much a calling as it is a job.”
UNCW will announce next steps in its search process to fill the role of CAS dean as soon as possible.
