Ryan Estes, a part-time lecturer in the School of Social Work, has been appointed to the North Carolina Commission for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. The Commission’s mission is to promote excellence in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation programs for persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse disorders in North Carolina.

Estes serves as the treatment operations director of Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. for Pender County. He is also on the National and North Carolina State Board of Directors for the National Association of Social Workers.
