Monday, March 16, 2020
There is not much new information to share at this point, as our faculty, staff and students use this time to prepare for online/alternate instruction beginning Monday, March 23. We have included a few “hot topics” below, and you can find all messaging to date here, and all FAQs to date here. If you do not see a topic addressed below or within the FAQs, it means there is not yet confirmed information to share. We will continue to do our best to bring you confirmed updates as soon as they are available. Thank you for your ongoing patience and cooperation. How will students know if any of their courses will require in-person participation once instruction resumes on March 23?
There will be no in-person courses conducted by WCE, CHHS, or CSB until further notice. All organized courses in CAS will be conducted online or via alternate means with the exception of courses that involve DIS, Honors Thesis, Grad Thesis, Dissertation or individual music instruction activity. Students in those courses may be expected to participate in person; they will be notified by instructors by or on Wednesday, March 18. If students are unable to participate in person, instructors will develop alternate means of instruction.
Are any assignments due over the extended spring break?
With the exception of Online Accelerated Program courses, classes will not be in session the week of March 16 and non-OAP students will not be expected to turn in assignments during this week, nor will they be penalized for turning in assignments by or on the adjusted deadline, as set by the instructor. Students should not bring completed assignments to instructors’ offices during the extended spring break.
How will students and employees know which campus service locations may be operating under reduced hours?
Please check individual campus service location websites for the latest information.
Where should international students direct questions about their academic progress, travel status, etc.?
International students should contact their International Student Advisors, or check the OISS FAQ page.
How are the men’s basketball team student-athletes and staff, who have been self-quarantined since March 7, doing?
None of the student-athletes or staff has displayed any symptoms as of Monday, March 16.
