UNCW to Repeat History with Five Commencement Ceremonies for the Class of 2019

As a campus experiencing exponential growth each year, UNCW will once again hold five ceremonies this May to graduate more than 2,700 students. The Doctor of Nursing Practice program is proud to have their first cohort of students graduate this spring.

The 97th commencement exercises will take place May 10 and 11. The doors to Trask Coliseum will open one hour prior to each ceremony. Tickets are required for both the Cameron School of Business and College of Health and Human Services ceremonies. Videos of all five ceremonies will be streamed live for remote viewing and archived for later viewing.  

Ceremony schedule and designated speakers are as follows:

  • Cameron School of Business - Friday, May 10 at 2 p.m.
    Guest tickets required for entry.
    Guest speaker: Brad Heath ’96, ’07M, Vice President of Operations and Marketing, Family Medical Supply
  • College of Health & Human Services - Friday, May 10 at 6 p.m.
    Guest tickets required for entry.
    Guest speaker: Stephanie Lanier ’03, ’07M, Co-Founder of the Lanier Property Group
  • Watson College of Education - Saturday, May 11 at 9 a.m.
    Guest speaker: Bethany Meighan ’15 Ed.D., Interim Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, University of North Carolina System
  • Sciences and Humanities in the College of Arts & Sciences - Saturday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m.
    Guest speaker: Bill Saffo ’83, Mayor of the City of Wilmington
  • Creative Arts, Social Sciences and Graduate Liberal Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences - Saturday, May 11 at 4 p.m.
    Guest speaker: Bill Saffo ’83, Mayor of the City of Wilmington

Participants and guests should expect an increase in traffic through the weekend. Exercise caution and patience for the well-being of all parties involved, and plan ahead to ensure timely arrival. Carpooling to maximize the use of parking space is highly encouraged.

Parking for graduates and guests will be available in Lot K, adjacent to Trask Coliseum. Parking for the Cameron School of Business ceremony will also be available in Lot C, located on Randall Drive and adjacent to Kenan Auditorium. Guests with a state issued Handicapped Placard are encouraged to park in Lot K at Wagoner Drive.
