Three UNCW employees are finalists for WILMA Magazine’s annual “Women to Watch” awards. The awards honor women who make significant impacts on the Wilmington community through their work in the arts, business, education and public service.

Rebecca Daneff, associate director for employer development, and Justine Reel, associate dean of research and innovation in the College of Health and Human Services, were nominated in the category of education. Bonnie Monteleone ’11M, an administrative associate in UNCW’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and executive director of the Plastic Ocean Project, was nominated in the category of nonprofit/volunteer.

Daneff joined the staff of the UNCW Career Center in 2016. She was previously involved in financial/career planning and corporate recruitment. Reel, who is also a professor in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, a licensed professional counselor and certified sport psychology consultant, joined UNCW in 2014. Monteleone has facilitated five research projects at UNCW and in 2017 was recognized as the “Conservation Communicator of the Year” by the North Carolina Wildlife Federation.

Finalists will be recognized and the winner for each category announced at an event on Oct. 12.
