Construction on Cahill Drive to Begin May 7

Monday, May 07, 2018

UNCW Office of Facilities will begin a project to extend underground chilled water and hot water utilities on Cahill Drive beginning Monday, May 7. The project involves excavation along Cahill Drive behind Dobo and Cameron Halls.

The project is expected to last approximately six weeks and construction activities will affect:

  • Vehicular access on Cahill Drive
  • Pedestrian access along Cahill Drive
  • Vehicular access to the rear of Dobo Hall during May 7-9
  • Vehicular access to the rear of Cameron Hall, including the parking lot in late May

Directional signage for alternate pedestrian and ADA access will be posted. Please see map (PDF) of construction area. People with accessibility-related concerns should contact David Todd, EH&S Safety & Accessibility Specialist.

As always, UNCW encourages students, faculty, staff and all campus visitors to be mindful of construction zone safety, including the following recommendations:

  • Follow all safety signage.
  • Do not cross construction fencing or take “shortcuts” through work sites.
  • Pay attention to your path ahead to avoid collisions with barriers, fences, construction personnel, etc. Watch for changes in walkways and/or uneven surfaces.
  • Report safety concerns to Environmental Health & Safety.

For additional project information, contact the Office of Facilities.
