UNCW’s Newest Dining Spot to Open August 12

Thursday, August 03, 2017

Members of the UNCW Class of 2021 are certain to work up an appetite moving into their residence halls on Aug. 12. Luckily food is literally just around the corner for the majority of them. The Hub, UNCW’s newest dining space, will officially open its doors on Saturday, Aug. 12, UNCW’s Move-In day.

The 10,000-square-foot, two-story space is located between Galloway and Graham-Hewlett residence halls. In addition to housing MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes, Starbucks Coffee and a P.O.D. Market (Provisions on Demand), it serves as a dedicated meeting, lounge and study space for students.

“This new venue with its variety of dining options is a much-welcomed addition to this area of campus,” said Matt Rogers, resident district manager of campus dining. “In addition to the backyard green space, the building itself has a host of features designed to lessen the environmental impact of the building’s operation.”

Sustainable features include LED lighting fixtures, permeable pavers to eliminate storm water runoff and exterior “rain chains” that drain water from the roof directly to the ground underneath. Located in the back of the facility is a self-service bike shop where students can tune up their bikes free of charge with tools provided.

On Move-In day, Starbucks and P.O.D. will be open from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. and MOOYAH will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Regular scheduled hours for the fall 2017 semester are:

Thursday through Saturday: 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.
