UNCW Earns Recognition for Excellence, Affordability in Several Spring Rankings

Several ranking organizations recently recognized the University of North Carolina Wilmington for academic excellence and value, frequently citing the quality of the university’s online programs. The newest rankings reflect the university’s commitment to providing a quality education to a diverse student body enrolled in both campus-based and distance education programs.

“As outlined in UNCW’s Strategic Plan, the university is committed to expanding online degree options to make a college degree more accessible to full-time workers, military-affiliated students and others who require flexible programs,” Provost Marilyn Sheerer said. “I’m proud of the faculty and staff who make these important programs possible. Their dedication to our students inspires the recognition that UNCW regularly receives.”

UNCW’s latest rankings include:

  • 3rd in North Carolina and 95th nationally among public colleges and universities ranked by Business First;
  • Most affordable online bachelor’s degree in elementary education from AffordableColleges.com;
  • One of the “2017 Top Online Schools for Students with Disabilities” and 23rd most affordable online college for students with disabilities, as ranked by the SR Education Group;
  • 4th among “Online Schools & Colleges in North Carolina,” 16th on a national list of “Best Online Master’s in History for 2017,” and 43rd nationally among “Top Online Programs” from the website AccreditedOnlineSchools.com;
  • 12th on the list of the “Top 25 Clinical Research and Clinical Research Management Master’s Degree Programs 2017-2018,” presented by the website Health Care Management Degree Guide;
  • Placement among the top half of the “Top 240 Public Colleges that Offer Upperclassmen the Most Financial Aid,” listed by the Student Loan Report.

Nationally known organizations have consistently recognized UNCW for quality and affordability. The university is ranked 6th among public universities and 16th overall in the U.S. News & World Report list of Best Regional Universities in the South for 2017 and was named a top regional university by The Princeton Review.
