UNCW Media Production Team Collects its Fourth Telly Award

Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Members of the Media Production team in the UNCW Office of University Relations have again been honored for their work with a Telly Award. Telly Awards recognize the best in local, regional and cable TV programming, as well as online, video and film productions.

This year, the “I Can Do It, You Can Do It” video was a Bronze winner in the category of Public Interest/Awareness.

The “I Can Do It, You Can Do It” program at UNCW provides physical activity programs for area individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities. Faculty and students from the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences serve as mentors. It’s the only program of its kind in the state. The program is under the direction of College of Health and Human Services faculty members Sue Combs and Jordan Weber, who appear in the video.

“I’m particularly proud of this video because this program helps so many in our community and I’m glad we could help spotlight the amazing work Sue and her team do,” said Jesse Bradley, director of media production.

Bradley served as producer of the piece. Krista McKinney served as editor and cinematographer and Bradley Pearce assisted with cinematography.

The OUR Media Production team highlights the academic and institutional achievements of the university via video production, still photography and multimedia campaigns. Their work can be viewed throughout the university and community as well as via the team’s Vimeo page.

For 38 years, the Telly Awards have upheld a historical standard of excellence in film and video production by bestowing its recognition.  Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, its highest honor. Approximately 25 percent of entries are chosen as Winners of the Bronze Telly. Noted Telly recipients include CNBC, Comcast, Conde Nast Entertainment, Discovery and Showtime Networks.
