Monday, December 19, 2016

UNCW has been named a Best College Value for 2017 by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, ranking in the top 100 public universities. The university also is on Value Colleges’ list of the Top 10 Best Online Colleges in North Carolina.

“Our mission at UNCW is to provide students with an excellent and affordable education, because both are integral in defining good academic value,” said Chancellor Jose V. Sartarelli. “We are honored Kiplinger’s and Value Colleges have recognized the university for our efforts in this area.”

Each year, Kiplinger’s looks at data from 1,200 institutions to ascertain the top 300 best values among public and private universities and liberal arts colleges. UNCW is ranked third among North Carolina public universities in Best College Values 2017.

Kiplinger’s selects the top 100 public, private and liberal arts institutions based on admissions rates, academic quality, retention, student-faculty ratio, graduation rates and cost.

All North Carolina institutions on Value Colleges’ list offer degrees that students can complete entirely online, in addition to blended programs that include both online and on-campus courses. Inclusion on the list is determined by federal data as well as information from U.S. News & World Report and other respected publications.

UNCW has consistently had a prominent presence on the U.S. News list. The university is ranked 6th among public universities and 16th overall in the publication’s list of Best Regional Universities in the South for 2017.
