Theatre Offers a Twist on Timeless Tale

Tuesday, November 08, 2016

The UNCW Department of Theatre continues its 2016-17 season with “Beauty and The Beast,” Nov. 11-13 and 18-20. Directed by UNCW assistant professor Christopher Marino, this is not the popular Disney musical, but one adapted from the French original “La Belle et la Bête.”

“It’s really two shows in one,” said Marino. “It’s great for kids and there’s lot for adults as well. It’s an interesting take on a timeless story.”

Narrated by a pair of mischievous fairies, a very helpful rabbit and a “thoughtsnatcher” machine, this production is sure to surprise, delight and enchant.

Special times and matinees are offered for this family-friendly show:

7 p.m. Nov. 11 & Nov. 18
2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Nov. 12, Nov. 19 and Nov. 13
2 p.m. Nov. 20

All shows will take place at the Mainstage Theatre in the UNCW Cultural Arts Building. Tickets are $15 for the general public; $12 for seniors, UNCW employees and alumni; and $6 for students (sales tax included). They are available at the Kenan Box Office, by calling 910.962.3500 or online. Tickets can also be purchased in person one hour prior to each show.
