All Are Welcome at Annual “Art for the Masses” Event

Wednesday, November 16, 2016

Each November, UNCW hosts “Art for the Masses,” a popular regional art show and sale. This year, AFTM will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 in the Burney and Warwick Centers.

Since 2012, UNCW has been home to the event, which is intended to help emerging artists find an audience while allowing attendees to purchase unique pieces handcrafted by regional artists at affordable prices. Participating artists retain 100 percent of the proceeds from their sales.

“This program is a great way to get a head start on holiday shopping while engaging with the campus and community. UNCW alumni and current employees are among some of our artists,” said Stefanie Norris, Director of Campus Life Arts and Programs.

The event is coordinated through Norris’ office and the UNCW Department of Art and Art History.

AFTM is free and open to the public with a requested $3 door donation to help fund public arts projects at the university. This year the funding will support art and art history’s “Big Print event in the spring.

Parking is available in the visitor lot M across from the baseball field. A food truck will be on site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
