Three UNCW Academic Programs Earn National Rankings

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

UNCW has been recognized for its online Graduate Liberal Studies and undergraduate environmental sciences and environmental studies programs in a pair of national rankings. The GLS program was ranked 5th by The Best Master’s Degrees, while the undergraduate programs ranked 32nd on a list compiled by EnvironmentalScience.org.

“UNCW is dedicated to ensuring that all academic programs, both on campus and online, offer students the highest quality and the best value,” said Provost Marilyn Sheerer. “We are honored to have these degree programs recognized nationally.”

The Best Master’s Degrees website ranked 43 accredited programs that offer online master’s degrees in liberal studies, liberal arts, interdisciplinary studies or related fields based on affordability and rankings in major publications such as The Princeton Review, U.S. News & World Report and Forbes. The top 30 programs were then listed in order of affordability, with UNCW making the top five.

EnvironmentalScience.org considered a variety of federally reported data as well as the percentage of students graduating with degrees in disciplines closely related to the environmental sciences.

Earlier this year, U.S. News ranked UNCW 6th among public universities (16th overall) among Best Regional Universities in the South for 2017, while The Princeton Review featured UNCW in “Best Southeastern Colleges 2017.” For more information about national recognition for UNCW, visit the Rankings page.
