Here are recommended routes for students returning to campus. Students who remain affected by this weather event will not be penalized for classes missed as a result of continued travel challenges or other personal impacts. Students should contact instructors to discuss any classes they expect to miss.

• I -40 east is open. (I-40 west is closed between Newton Grove and I-95) Alternative routes for those going west are I-40 to Newton Grove and take 701 N to I-95 north or I-40 to NC 24 rest stop and take 24 to Clinton for US 421.

• US 421 is open west and east.

•  US 17 is open north and south to the SC line.

•  US74/76 is closed between Lumberton and Whiteville.

• I-95 is closed between Fayetteville and Benson although some detours are available, they are often confusing for those taking them.

Recommended routes for persons leaving Charlotte and surrounding areas:   I-77 or I-85 north to US 421  NC24 to US 421 in Clinton or I-40 and take those roads into Wilmington.

Please: Before heading out have a FULL TANK OF GAS, a PAPER MAP and not to expect to use ATMs or have availability of gas stations within 30 mins either direction of the I-95 corridor.
