Ground Broken on New Campus Dining Space

Monday, August 15, 2016

Construction is underway on UNCW’s newest dining facility. The Hub will be a 10,000 square foot, two-story space located between Galloway and Graham-Hewlett residence halls, and is designed to be a modern, smart space to offer plentiful dining options as well as a dedicated meeting, lounge and study area, particularly for freshmen.

Inside The Hub

The Hub will be home to three dining establishments: MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes, Starbucks Coffee and a P.O.D. Market (Provisions on Demand) for grab-and-go options. The top floor will serve as a quiet study space and offer additional seating for dining patrons. The facility will also have a lawn space, where herbs and vegetables can be grown on-site. When surveyed, freshmen favored a new dining hall closer to the bulk of campus residence halls and apartments.

“This building was designed with not only high value dining options in mind, but also as a way to support healthy choices and lifestyles for our students,” said Brian Dailey, UNCW Director of Auxiliary Services.

The space is slated to open in May 2017.
