In partnership with the National Weather Service, New Hanover County and other campus and community partners, UNCW continues to closely monitor Tropical Storm Colin. Based on the latest information available, UNCW officials have determined that the main campus and Onslow Extension Site will remain open and fully operational, with all summer classes, orientation and events proceeding on schedule.
Given the possibility of dangerous rip currents, heavy rains, hazardous roads and potential flood conditions, students, faculty and staff are advised to exercise caution until the storm passes. Be advised that rip currents are likely to affect the Cape Fear coast whether or not the storm makes landfall.
As always, students who do not feel comfortable traveling to or from classes should use their best judgment and contact their instructors. Faculty and staff should consult the Adverse Weather Policy (Condition 1) to determine their best personal course of action.
Should conditions change, the university will respond accordingly. Additional updates will be posted as conditions warrant. Please continue to monitor the UNCW homepage, the UNCW Alert website, Facebook and Twitter, the Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751 and local media for additional information.
