Monday, June 06, 2016

Updated: 5:30 p.m. - A tropical storm warning has been issued for parts of coastal North Carolina including New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties. UNCW, in collaboration with the National Weather Service, New Hanover County and other campus and community partners, will continue to monitor the storm. At this time, no changes are planned to the university’s operating schedule, and updates will be provided as conditions warrant.

A flash flood watch also is in effect for the Cape Fear region from 8 p.m. Monday, June 6, through Tuesday afternoon (June 7) in association with Tropical Storm Colin. Dangerous rip currents, heavy rain and localized flooding are possible. Be advised that rip currents are likely to affect the Cape Fear coast whether or not the storm makes landfall.

Please continue to monitor the UNCW homepage, the UNCW Alert website, Facebook and Twitter, the Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751 and local media for additional information.
