UNCW Monitoring Tropical Weather Conditions in the Atlantic

Friday, May 27, 2016

UNCW, in collaboration with the National Weather Service, New Hanover County and other campus and community partners, will continue to monitor tropical weather conditions in the Atlantic through Memorial Day on May 30. At this time, no changes are planned to the university’s operating schedule. Updates will be provided as conditions warrant.

Dangerous rip currents, heavy rain and flooding in low-lying and coastal areas are possible over the next few days as the storm approaches. Be advised that rip currents are likely to affect the Cape Fear coast whether or not the storm makes landfall nearby.

Please continue to monitor the UNCW homepage, the UNCW Alert website, Facebook and Twitter, the Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751 and local media for additional information.
