Honors College to Host Lecture by “The Circus in Winter” Author Cathy Day
Friday, April 01, 2016
UNCW’s Honors College invites the public to attend a lecture by Cathy Day, author of The Circus in Winter. The free event will be held Tuesday, April 5 in the Warwick Ballroom at 7 p.m.
Day will discuss both the book and her process for writing it. A question-and-answer session and a book signing will follow.
“The goal of the Honors College Spring Speakers’ series is to offer a forum for campus discussion of a current and interdisciplinary topic,” said Kate Bruce, Director of the Honors College. “This year’s speaker brings together history, creative writing, literature and sociology. We have lots of student writers on campus, and their being able to engage with an author one-on-one is a remarkable opportunity.”
The Honors College will also host a reading group, open to all students, faculty and staff, to discuss Day’s book. All participants of the reading group will receive a copy of The Circus in Winter. Additional opportunities are available to meet the author on April 5 and 6; visit the Honors College website for up-to-date information.
