WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY | No closures/delays; exercise caution

Thursday, February 11, 2016

The UNCW main campus and surrounding areas are under a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service. Forecasts indicate that light freezing rain is possible on Friday (2/12) morning.

As of 7 p.m. on Thursday, the main campus and the CREST campus at Myrtle Grove will remain open and fully operational and classes will proceed as scheduled. The university’s Onslow County extension site is following Coastal Carolina Community College’s closure policy.

Faculty, staff and students should exercise discretion while commuting to classes and events; accordingly, faculty and staff from affected areas should refer to the Adverse Weather Policy: https://uncw.edu/hr/documents/AdverseWeatherEmergencyEventPolicy-eff-2016-01-01.pdf

Students who will be absent from scheduled classes due to weather conditions should contact their instructors.

Please exercise caution when moving about campus as there may be slippery areas on stairways and walkways.

Continue to monitor the UNCW website (uncw.edu) and social media for potential updates. While the university does not anticipate the need for a follow-up campus email, one will be distributed if conditions warrant. Thank you for your attention and caution during this potential winter weather event.
