Thursday, February 11, 2016
The Career Center invites students, alumni, faculty and staff to attend its Career Success Week Feb. 15-17. Four different career-prep sessions will span over three days, providing the UNCW community with important tools for career preparation and success. All years and majors are encouraged to attend.
"UNCW’s Career Success Week will provide unique opportunities for students and alumni to connect with 80+ employers to explore internships and jobs," said Thom Rakes, Career Center director. "Each of the week’s events will help advance students’ career development as well as help meet employers’ talent acquisition and business needs."
A professional network and etiquette workshop will kick off the week on Feb. 15 in the Fisher Student Center at 5:30 p.m., followed by a networking reception with several local businesses at 6:45 p.m.
The Career Fair will run from noon to 3 p.m. on Feb. 16 in the Burney Center, where employers representing a wide variety of industries will attend. This event is open to students of all majors; attendees should bring resumes and wear professional attire. A LinkedIn photo booth will be available to individuals seeking a professional headshot.
Internship and job interviews will be conducted throughout the day on Feb. 17 in the Career Center for those who attended the Career Fair. Also on Feb. 17, a financial planning workshop is offered to students and new graduates. Topics include managing personal finances and developing credit.
