Season’s greetings from hundreds of UNCW faculty, staff and students will be offered to North Carolina’s service men and women thanks to the Staff Senate's Holiday Cards for Heroes drive.

On Dec. 1, as part of Giving Tuesday, stations were set up around campus for participants to design or sign a card for military personnel at Camp Lejeune and New River. Staff Senate members will next deliver the cards to the troops.

A card station will also be available at the UNCW men’s basketball game against Coker Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Trask Coliseum.

“Staff Senate has been trying to come up with an outreach event that would encourage all parts of campus to come together for a good cause,” said senate member Erin St. Ledger. “With the holiday season approaching and our campus being so close to so many bases, we thought that this would be a good opportunity to give thanks to our troops and tell them how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice.”
