UNCW’s QENO Announces Registration For Nonprofit Leadership Academy

Thursday, November 12, 2015

QENO at the University of North Carolina Wilmington has enlisted a nationally known consulting group for a two-day seminar designed to help nonprofit leaders effectively guide their organizations through change and challenging times.

“The Nonprofit Leadership Academy – Adaptive Leadership” will explore topics such as smart risk-taking, strategies to promote collaboration and consensus, discerning the difference between leadership and authority, “courageous conversations” and how leaders can avoid getting in their own way.

QENO (Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations) will present the workshop in conjunction with Cambridge Leadership Associates, based in New York. The leadership academy will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9 at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort, Wrightsville Beach. The cost is $80, and registration closes Dec. 3. CLA’s Jeffrey Lawrence, who has conducted adaptive-leadership training for public and private-sector organizations, will facilitate the sessions. Nonprofit staff and board members will bring a specific leadership problem from their own organization and will apply strategies learned during the two-day workshop.

This is the first time QENO has brought nationally renowned leadership training to local nonprofits, director Natasha Davis said. The program was made possible by a grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation.

QENO is a partnership of UNCW, civic leaders, funding organizations and community groups with the goal of increasing philanthropy in Southeastern North Carolina and enhancing the strengths of nonprofit boards and leaders.
