UPDATE: UNCW Campus Will Reopen at 6 p.m. Monday; classes and services resume at 6 a.m. Tuesday

Monday, October 05, 2015

UNCW’s main campus and Onslow Extension Site will reopen at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 5, and will resume normal operations and service schedules at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, with classes, events, campus services and faculty/staff schedules resuming per usual at that time.

Any employees who do not feel comfortable traveling to campus should exercise the Adverse Weather
Policy:
https://www.uncw.edu/policies/documents/08221AdverseWeather.pdf. Employees with questions or concerns should contact their managers.

Students who will be absent from classes on Tuesday due to weather conditions should contact their instructors. Information regarding makeup classes will be distributed when available.

Wagoner Dining Hall, Randall Library, the Student Rec Center, Fisher Student Center and University Union, and all other campus dining and service locations will operate under their usual schedules on Tuesday unless otherwise noted on their websites; please check those sites before setting out in case hours have changed. Randall Library will remain closed tonight.

UNCW is working hard to normalize conditions, but students and employees should exercise caution when moving on or around campus as there may be spots that remain affected by the weather event. Please remember the following safety guidelines:

  • Do not attempt to swim, wakeboard, tube, or otherwise venture in or around flood waters. This is an extremely risky endeavor that could result in serious injury, illness or death.
  • Call 911 in the event of an emergency.
  • Exercise caution when driving; do not attempt to drive through flooded areas.
  • Pay attention to detours and debris.
  • Do not enter the ocean; surf conditions are likely to remain extremely dangerous. Check local news coverage of surf conditions before venturing out in the coming days.

The university is extremely grateful to the employees who have worked tirelessly throughout this storm to help keep our campus as safe and as operational as possible.

UNCW expects this to be the last message regarding this weather event. However, as always, UNCW faculty, staff and students should monitor **their UNCW email inboxes** and the UNCW website, in case developments warrant additional updates.

Thank you.
