UNCW Monitoring Tropical Weather Conditions; Commencement to Proceed As Planned

Friday, May 08, 2015

UNCW is monitoring Tropical Storm Ana, which has developed off the coast of the southeast U.S. The university is working with the National Weather Service, New Hanover County, and other campus and community partners to track the storm. According to weather forecasts, strong winds, heavy rains, localized flooding and rip currents could affect our area this weekend. Updates will be posted as conditions warrant. UNCW's commencement ceremonies are proceeding as planned, without an expectation of any weather impacts. If travel conditions change, graduates and their guests should make their own determination whether it is safe to travel.

Please continue to monitor the UNCW homepage, UNCW Alert, UNCW Facebook, and Twitter, the Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751 and local media for additional information, but the university expects the impact of this storm to remain minimal.
