Wednesday, April 08, 2015

More than 60 posters highlighting innovative student research and creative scholarly activity will be on display April 13-17 as part of UNCW's 10th Annual Showcase of Student Research and Creativity. N.C. Governor Pat McCrory has designated April 13-17 as Undergraduate Research Week in the state.

The campus community is invited to a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 on the second floor of Randall Library. Students will be on hand to discuss methods and results.

Sponsored by UNCW's Center for Support of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CSURF), the UNCW Graduate School, the Honors Scholars College, ETEAL, the Office of Undergraduate Studies and Randall Library, the posters represent a variety of research in the sciences, humanities and professional schools and colleges.

Distinguished recipients of the CSURF Undergraduate Research Fellowships and CSURF Research Travel Awards will be in attendance, as well as university and departmental honors students. Students earning the UNCW Undergraduate Research Scholar and UNCW Distinguished Research Scholar designation will also be recognized.  Graduate students nominated for the MAD (Making a Difference to North Carolina) awards will also be recognized.

“UNCW fosters faculty engagement of undergraduates as partners in the conduct of innovative scientific and creative scholarship on campus,” said Kate Bruce, director of CSURF and the Honors College.
