UNCW to Host Second Annual Health and Human Services Week

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

The College of Health and Human Services will host the second annual Health and Human Services Week, April 6-10. Campus and community members are invited to attend a variety of educational events to learn about enhancing one’s health and overall quality of life.

On Monday at 6:30 p.m. Ruth Petersen will provide the opening keynote address on the state and region’s health during Healthcare of the Future – Addressing Challenges in Our Communities. This will be followed by a presentation from regional leaders who will discuss chronic disease prevention, patient engagement, end-of-life care and employee wellness.

Tuesday’s activities conclude with an interactive performance by Theater Delta. Beginning at 4 p.m., this creative take on end-of-life decision-making allows for audience participation and will wrap with a post-performance discussion.

The week culminates at 2 p.m. on Friday with keynote speaker Moisés Próspero, who will lead Building Collaborative Community Partnerships Using Evidence-Based Youth Violence Interventions.

By providing tools to help people better understand the necessity of living a healthy life, CHHS aims to make a positive impact on the health and quality of life of residents in the state of North Carolina and beyond.

Health and Human Services Week highlights the hard work of UNCW’s faculty and students, along with the Wilmington community.

All events are open to the public, but please note some require registration. UNCW will also offer continuing education credit for numerous forums.
