UNCW Challenges All Seahawks to “Give More in 24”

Monday, March 23, 2015

On March 24, the University of North Carolina Wilmington is inviting Seahawks everywhere to help the university score a $48,000 gift by participating in “Give More in 24,” a one-day challenge for UNCW. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and other donors who make a gift of any amount to any area of campus will help UNCW reach its overall goal of $133,801.

It’s easy to get involved! The challenge will kick off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24 and will continue for 24 hours. Give online, text “pledge” to 90947 or call 910.962.7613 to contribute. Connect with other UNCW supporters by using #UNCW24 on social media.

“Last year’s one-day giving challenge exceeded our wildest expectations. I was humbled by the generous outpouring of support shown by the UNCW community,” said Eddie Stuart, vice chancellor for university advancement. “This year, the goal of the ‘Give More in 24’ challenge will again demonstrate that every single dollar makes a difference. All gifts, no matter the size, can change students’ lives by providing much-needed support for merit and diversity scholarships, applied learning initiatives and valuable academic, athletic and student life programs.”

This is the second year the university has issued a 24-hour challenge. Last year, UNCW raised $133,800 and received a $24,000 anonymous gift. By raising just $1 more than last year’s challenge, an anonymous donor has pledged to double the gift this year to $48,000.
