Nominations Open for 2015 Coastal Entrepreneur Awards

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

The UNCW Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Greater Wilmington Business Journal (GWBJ) are seeking nominations for this year’s Coastal Entrepreneur Awards. The awards recognize up-and-coming entrepreneurs to help foster more entrepreneurial activity and higher paying jobs in the region.

“The CEAs recognize entrepreneurs who are lighting their own path to success by making a mark in their respective industries,” said Ron Vetter, associate provost for research at UNCW. “It is important to recognize entrepreneurs as innovators who help boost local economies and provide jobs that will sustain economic growth.”

Companies and non-profits in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties are eligible for the awards, which will be given in the areas of biotechnology, film, health care, Internet-related business, manufacturing and distribution, non-profit, professional services, retail and hospitality, technology and emerging company (a firm with three or less employees and less than two years old).

The category winners will be profiled in a special Coastal Entrepreneur Awards section of the GWBJ and honored on May 21 at an awards breakfast in the UNCW Burney Center. To nominate an individual or company for the awards, visit the Coastal Entrepreneurship Awards website.

The deadline to apply or nominate an individual or organization is 5 p.m., March 31.
