Tuesday, October 21, 2014

The UNCW Department of Geography and Geology will celebrate International Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) Day on Nov. 20 with several activities to promote geospatial research, including: programs for grade-school students, a career panel for UNCW students, and a research symposium.

The events are free and open to the campus and community, but registration (PDF) by Oct. 30 is required.

“We will be hosting a full day of activities dedicated to geospatial technologies for community members, middle school and high school students and alumni, as well as faculty and students from a multitude of departments on campus who conduct geospatial research," said assistant professor Eman Ghoneim, director of the Remote Sensing Research Laboratory. “This event fits into UNCW’s commitment to teaching, research and service.”
