Kia Rogers '95 recently won the New York Innovation Theatre Award (NYIT) for Outstanding Lighting Design for Jane the Plain. The award was presented on Sept. 22 at the Mason Hall at Baruch Performing Arts Center in New York City. The NYIT sponsors an annual event to celebrate Off-Off-Broadway and independent theatre productions.

Rogers, daughter of the late Terry Rogers, a longtime UNCW theatre faculty member, has worked as a guest lighting designer on campus. She is also the recipient of the 2012’s People of the Year Award. The Terry Rogers Award, which supports student lab productions at UNCW, is named in her father's honor.
