UNCW will reopen at 6 a.m. and resume a holiday schedule on Friday, July 4. Normal work and class schedule will resume after the holiday weekend.

Damage to campus is extremely limited with minor leaks, minimal limbs down and no flooding. Employees needed for campus service during the holiday weekend will be contacted by their supervisor.

Faculty and staff should continue to operate under the adverse weather policy. This portion of the timekeeping policy is included below and can also be found via this link: Please contact your supervisor with any questions or concerns.

UNCW will continue to monitor Hurricane Arthur and provide updates as conditions warrant.

Please continue to check the Emergency Information Hotline at 910.962.3991 or 888.657.5751, the UNCW Alert website, the UNCW homepage, social media and/or local news media for the most current information.

Adverse Weather Policy:
This section of the policy applies whenever weather makes travel to or from the university hazardous. Employees may use vacation leave or accrued comp time. With supervisory approval, if no vacation leave or comp time is available; the time away may be recorded as comp time with a negative balance carried forward to the next month. Such comp time lost due to adverse weather must be made up within 12 months. To avoid overtime, time should be made up during a week when the employee does not work a full 40 hours. Exceptions are allowed if management approves the overtime in response to a bona fide need for work in excess of 40 hours. If the time lost to adverse weather is not made up within 12 months, the negative balance will be charged to vacation leave or leave without pay.
