Lisa A. Keenan has been appointed Director of the UNCW Onslow Extension Site and UNCW Military Liaison. She has served in the interim position since September 2013, a role she assumed concurrently with that of Academic Advisor in the Watson College of Education.

Keenan holds degrees at the baccalaureate, masters and doctorate levels in education from West Chester University, Kutztown University and Old Dominion University, respectively. She has years of experience with the Onslow Extension Site in a range of roles. These include teaching courses in education as an adjunct faculty member in the Watson College of Education, serving as distance education facilitator and as recruiter/mentor for the post-baccalaureate licensure-only program in the Watson College.

She also has additional teaching and curriculum development experience in education at the community college and secondary educational levels. An important area concerns her experience working with the military community including serving as an education assessor for the U. S. Department Defense, Chairperson Advising Veterans and Their Family Members, National Advising Association, and serving on a number of local committee that address their educational needs and concerns.

The Director of the Onslow Extension Site reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for External Programs and provides crucial leadership for the day-to-day management and operations of the Onslow Extension Site and staff. The director works with community and military partners to conduct needs assessments, then communicate needs to the AVCEP to extend the resources of the university to the community and beyond by providing high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs and courses for transfer, traditional and non-traditional students.
